Our Summer Release of Alert Logic® Cloud Defender® is now available. This release includes important enhancements that enable customers to more efficiently protect critical workloads running on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Along with its existing network, log, and application threat detection capabilities, Cloud Defender now includes cloud-native vulnerability and configuration management capabilities, providing a complete view of instances and exposures across both the operating system and the applications running on AWS.
This release also includes updates designed to provide more efficient management of Alert Logic appliances and agents within highly dynamic AWS environments. And we’ve refreshed the look and feel of our user interface across our entire line of security services – setting the foundation for additional user experience enhancements planned for the remainder of 2016.
Let’s dive deeper into what you will see with these enhancements:
Continual Configuration & Vulnerability Visibility for AWS Workloads
IT teams leveraging the AWS cloud need the ability to see all of their company’s AWS EC2 instances, their configuration, services, security posture, and vulnerabilities on an ongoing basis without having to manage multiple tools and advanced rule sets. Many teams are also looking for a single threat management and compliance solution for their AWS workloads to improve their security controls, without adding security staff.
Alert Logic Cloud Defender - already offering layered and integrated security capabilities and services - now includes continual configuration and vulnerability assessments for applications and workloads hosted on AWS. All teams responsible for securing their AWS workloads (including I&O, Cloud Services, DevOps, and security teams) receive an increased level of visibility (AWS configuration layer) as well as an automated scanning experience, grouped/prioritized remediation, and API integration capabilities; enabling them to easily manage the security posture of all of their EC2 instances.
In addition to ongoing EC2 visibility, teams can use the robust scanning capabilities offered to run ongoing configuration and vulnerability scans, as well as point in time scans for regulatory compliance needs including PCI, HIPPA and SOX for both AWS cloud workloads and on-premises infrastructure.
Efficient, Elastic Agent Lifecycle Management
The dynamic nature of cloud infrastructure means that your security tools need to “work like the cloud” not just in the cloud. Cloud Defender takes advantage of AWS APIs to manage the complete lifecycle of agents, including automatically removing agents no longer required as instances are spun down.
Additionally, Cloud Defender is intelligent in its approach about how agents and appliances communicate within and across AWS Availability Zones. This intelligence ensures that Alert Logic agents dynamically communicate with the Alert Logic appliance available in the appropriate Availability Zone, following AWS best practices.
Refreshed User Interface
Users of all Alert Logic solutions will notice a refreshed user interface with updated colors and fonts, simplified design elements, and performance improvements. This refresh sets the foundation for additional user experience enhancements planned for the remainder of 2016.
These enhancements add to Alert Logic award winning Security-as-as-Service solutions, used by over 3,800 organizations worldwide.
With all the complexity of today’s cloud and hybrid infrastructures, and the resulting need for simplified security services, why not leverage solutions that take the complexity and cost out of protecting your infrastructure assets and data?
